Introduction

 

 

The house of Molinard has more than 150 years of experience in creating perfumes and derivative products for a clientele who demands quality, originality and a certain savoir-faire.

 

The Molinard Perfumery offers its visitors a guided tour to discover how perfumes are made and to admire the exceptional collection of ancient scent bottles signed by the greatest « Master Glass Makers » such as Lalique and Baccarat.

 

Our wish is to privilege creativity and originality in a welcoming environment and we have created an area inspired by perfuming traditions which is home to the following « Discovery » products:

 

Molinard offers you the chance to participate in a number of workshops organised around themes based on perfume.

 

These workshops consist of a number of modulable activities depending on your specific requirements.

 

Discovery workshops :

 

 

1. « Tarinology » (Create your own perfume with advice from the « Nose »)

 

2. « Aromas & Fragrances » (Tarinology workshop and lunch at Jacques Chibois’ famous gastronomic restaurant)

Guided Tour

 

The Molinard Perfumery offers its visitors a guided tour to discover how perfumes are made and to admire the exceptional collection of ancient scent bottles signed by the greatest « Master Glass Makers » such as Lalique and Baccarat.

 

The tour will help you discover :

 

• the raw materials room (source, cultivation)

 

• the soap room (craft manufacture)

 

• the distillery room (different extraction processes)

 

• the packaging of our products by our craftspeople.

 

• the perfumer’s organ (mixing laboratory)

 

• maceration cellar (perfume maturing stage)

 

• bottle label Collection 18^th to 20^th century

 

• boutique/museum enriched by an exceptional collection of provencal furniture from the 16th, 17th and 18th centuries on which the whole selection of Molinard products are displayed and which were created in the great French tradition.

 

 

A guided tour in the language of your choice : French, English, Italian, Spanish, German

The « Tarinologie » Workshop

(Create your own perfume)

 

Place :

The workshop takes place in the Villa Habanita, next to the Molinard Perfumery, in a superb 1900’s Provencal setting.

 

Welcome :

Minimum 2 people and a maximum of 20 people.

 

 

Duration :

Approximately 1H30

 

Workshop set-up :

• Theoretical and practical lessons allowing each Trainee-Perfumer to create his or her own perfume, with help and advice from the Master Perfumer.

 

• Olfactory session using 80 essences displayed on pivoting trays (Blackberry bud, Rose, Galbanum, Mimosa, Cyst, Vanilla, Patchouli, …)

 

• Each creator takes away his own Perfumed Water (Eau de Parfum) in a 50 ml scent bottle and may re-order his perfume anytime (200 Francs and 50 Francs delivery costs), each formula is kept secret by Molinard.

 

• A diploma is given to each participant.

 

• Guided tour of the Molinard Perfumery with a 10% discount on all items bought.

 

That extra something :

At Molinard Perfumery our aim is to keep our workshops professional, traditional but with a warm and friendly approach, adding a note of humour to the important creative atmosphere present at the initiation. The participants « work » around a large table, with a revolving tray and have all the essences required for a perfumer at hand.

« From the Flower to the Perfume »

 workshop (1/2 day)

 

Place :

The Villa Habanita, next to the Perfumery Molinard and a local flower field.

 

Welcome :

Reservation only, for a minimum of 5 people.

 

 

Workshop program :

• 9 am: meet in front of Perfumery Molinard

 

 

• 15 am: visit of the flower field: Rose (1^st to 31^st May), Jasmine (15^th July to 30 September). Discover the plantation and participate at the flower picking with the owner, who will reveal the secrets of the Rose « Centifolia » and the Jasmine of Grasse.
• Or a botanical visit to the local countryside to discover the numerous flower and plant varieties (subject to the season) : wild flower, shrubs, aromatic plants etc.

 

 

• 11 am: Perfume initiation course at Perfumery Molinard gives you the opportunity to create your own perfume with an initiation course at the « Tarinologie » Each « Trainer-Perfumer » leaves with his or her diploma and his or her Eau de Parfum (produced in 50 ml) and which can be re-ordered at any moment (each formula is kept secret by Molinard).

« Flowers and Fragrances » workshop

The Perfumery Molinard and a local flower field.

Workshop program :

• 9 am: meet in front of Perfumery Molinard

Place :

The Villa Habanita next to the Molinard Perfumery and the restaurant « La Bastide Saint-Antoine » in Grasse.

 

Welcome :

Reservation only, min 2 people, max 22 people.

 

Workshop :

• The morning: perfume initiation course at Molinard. The Perfumery gives you the opportunity to create your own perfume with an initiation course at the « Tarinologie» Workshop each  « Trainee-Perfumer » leaves with his or her diploma and his or her Eau de Parfum, (produced in 50 ml) and which can be re-ordered at any moment. Molinard keeps (each formula secret).
• Guided Tour of the Molinard Perfumery, showing each different stage of the fabrication of a Perfume, as well as a collection of ancient scent bottles signed by the most famous « Master Glass Makers » such as « Lalique » or « Baccarat ».
• At the end of the morning, lunch at Jacques Chibois’ restaurant the Bastide Saint-Antoine. This ancient 17^th century manor is located in the heart of a magnificent olive orchard. Jacques Chibois has renovated it with a lot of affection, keeping its provencal authenticity. In a discreetly luxurious and comfortable atmosphere, Jacques Chibois suggests a menu consisting of a starter, a main course and a desert (excluding drinks), inspired by the aromas used in the morning such as thyme, rosemary, basil, lavender …

 

That extra something :

From provencal cooking to the composition of a perfume, there’s just one step. It’s from this innovative idea that the perfumer Molinard and the restaurant owner Jacques Chibois have put together a savoury and scented half-day workshop destined to help you discover the aromas and fragrances of Provence.

« Discovering the Pleasures of the Little Market place » workshop

(1/2 day)

 

Place :

The Perfumery Molinard and Espace Terroirs in Grasse.

 

Welcome :

Reservation only, minimum 48 hours before and for a minimum of 8 people.

 

Workshop program :

• Morning : meet at Perfumery Molinard for a guided tour presenting the different stages in fabricating a Perfume : raw materials, distillation, enfleurage, the « Nose’s » work, etc …

 

• Leave Perfumery for a tasting of Provencal products. Welcomed in a Provencal country setting and an insight into recognising the most common aromatic plants with explanations from an Agronomist. Taste the Provencal products on a sheltered terrace. Discover the origins of the manufacturing of some of the products tasted. Visit the shop and discover the honey, wine, Provencal and mountain liquors, as well as local craftwork.

 

• End of morning: end of visit and tasting.

Floral Ambiance workshop

(1/2 day)

 

 

Place :

The workshop takes place in the Villa Habanita, next to the Molinard Perfumery, in a superb 1900’s provencal setting.

 

Welcome :

Reservation only, for a minimum of 5 people.

 

Duration :

1 hour.

 

Workshop program :

In the « Madrigal » Reception room, you will compose your ambience perfume (pot pourri) according to your wishes with raw materials and evocative fragrances like button rose, camomile flower, lemon leaf, orange peel, cinnamon, etc …

You will have your original creation away in a pretty webbed cotton purse equipped with its perfume regenerator bottle.

 

 

That extra something :

The participants can let their imagination run wild when combining the different raw materials according to their colour, shape and perfume.

A « Home-made » pot pourri to perfume your car, cupboards, dressing room, …

Perfumes and Winetasting workshop

(1/2 day)

 

 

Place :

The Villa Habanita next to the Perfumery Molinard welcomes you in an attractive colourful 1900 Provencal setting.

 

Welcome :

Reservation only, for a minimum of 15 people.

 

Duration :

½ day.

 

Workshop program :

09 :00 am :     « Tarinologie Workshop » during which you will make your own perfume, you will discover similar notes which you sometimes find in wine. This will enable you to share the secrets of the « Master-Perfumer » before discovering those of the winetaster.

10 :00 am :     In the « Rafale » Salon, you will be introduced to winetasting, during a course given by Jean-Pierre ROUX, Maître Œnologue de France. He will talk to you about different vines, vinification methods and will help you to recognize certain components that make wine ; Mr Roux will also familiarize you with the technical vocabulary and you will finish the course by associating wine with food.

Winetasting and study of 3 Provencal wines.

11 :30 am :     guided tour of the perfumery.

 

 

That extra something :

A half-day that will tickle your nose and taste buds and which will enable you to meet two artists who often use the same language when expressing their knowledge.

The « Molinard Challenge »

 

‘Play the Trainee Perfumer game’

 

Thanks to the « Molinard Challenge » interactive games, you’ll be able to develop your Olfactive memory capacities and aptitudes on Perfumes and the Molinard Perfumery.

You’ll discover new sensations in a fun atmosphere and in a place filled with history and beauty!

 

9 a.m.              Guided tour of the perfumery, where the participants are advised to pay attention to detail for the needs of a game to be played later.

 

9.45 a.m.         The « Tarinologie » game

 

1/ The lesson– : on olfactive families and the principals behind creating a perfume.

 

2/. The game– : as a team or alone, participants must create a perfume from criteria given by the « Nose » and the winner will receive a « Molinard gift ».

 

11 a.m.                       Coffee Break

 

11.15 a.m.       The « Quiz Time » game

 

The teams battle it out on three levels :

 

1/ Historical questions on Molinard.

(fast game with buzzer – lasts 10 mins)

 

2/ Technical questions / tasks about raw materials and manufacturing.

(sensorial / memory game – lasts 30 mins max.)

 

3/ The Odorama – with ‘Blind Test’

(olfactive / memory game – lasts 15 mins)

Flying MOLINARD

(To be determined with client)

 

 

Place :

The Aerodrome at CANNES.

 

Welcome :

Restricted to 6 passengers maximum.

 

Duration :

Minimum 30 minutes.

 

Flight Programme:

09 :00 am :     Take off from the airstrip and head towards Grasse, flying over the Mimosa covered hills of the Tanneron. Get an aerial view of the remaining flower fields around Grasse and try and spot Molinard from the air! Head on to the Plateau de Caussols and across the Loup river Canyon before turning back to the coast.

The trip will show you the geographical as well as botanical aspect of the region and you can also add on other tourist attractions such as flying over the Croisette in Cannes and spot the villas that belong to the Stars!

11 :30 am :     Guided tour of the perfumery.

 

 

That extra something :

This trip comes with a professional botanist who will explain the land features.

Workshop program :

• 9 am: meet in front of Perfumery Molinard

 

• 15 am: a botanical visit to the local countryside to discover the numerous flower and plant varieties (subject to the season) : wild flower, shrubs, aromatic plants etc. Return to Molinard perfumery where our botanist will help you to create your own “bouquet of aromatic plants” for your own culinary uses.

 

• 30 am: guided tour of Perfumery Molinard lasting approximately 20 minutes, which presents each stage of Perfume manufacturing, as well as a collection of antique scent-bottles created by « Lalique » and « Baccarat ».
